Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – August 25
Ian Happ – Higher than 0.5 Singles
Happ has a hit in eight of his last nine games, so while he hasn’t been the most potent offensively – the recent results are there. To make matters even better for him, he faces familiar foe Mitch Keller. He has 16 career at bats against Keller and is hitting .438 with a .875 slugging percentage.
Sonny Gray – Higher than 6.0 Strikeouts
There hasn’t been a game in August that Gray hasn’t gotten at least 7 strikeouts. He has 32 strikeouts over a four-game stretch and is doing so while keeping his pitch count well under 100.
Texas is a middle of the pack team in terms of strikeouts (17th in the league). However, as of late, they’re striking out far more. They’ve gone down on strikes 10.33 times per game over the last three games. Gray should get plenty of opportunities to get to this number.
Chris Bassitt -1.0 Fantasy Points over Tanner Bibee
Both of these pitchers have been hot. Each of them have limited opponents to minimal runs over the last two months. Both are usually hanging around six strikeouts as well. The difference maker for me is that Bassitt is facing the Guardians, who just can’t get going offensively. Bibee gets the slightly hot Blue Jays, and that should be enough to make a one point difference.
