2023 US Open Predictions

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) give out all their US Open picks in their 2023 US Open predictions podcast. The guys are joined by Steve Schirmer and Boston Capper (@Boston_Capper) from the Golf Gambling Podcast. They cover the drama surrounding the LIV PGA Tour deal, Phil MicKelson going for a grand slam and the favorites Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka.

(8:44) LIV/PGA Merger

Both sides were trying to sue each other, and it would’ve been a long-winded trial and quite expensive. By combining, fans can once again see all the players play against each other and LIV now has a seat at the table. All in all, the merger should be exciting for the sport and open new doors.

(18:37) US Open Conditions

Currently the weather is up in the air as showers could be coming at the end of the week. A lot of the holes are on the shorter end but there is a lot of change in elevation in holes. Guys who do well on this course are the ones who do really well off the tee. Even though the fairways are wide the elevation change still makes a bad tee shot hard.

(30:28) US Open DFS Picks

You can argue the merger happened because Brooks won. He does really well in majors and should do well in this one. Rahm has 11 PGA victories with 5 in California and really has the resume to do well. One issue is his struggles around the green with his wedge, but he is 17th this year from out of the tee box. Cantlay is a UCLA guy, one who has played at this course a number of times and has a great driver.

Rickie Fowler has played pretty well, arguably because his endorsements reportedly dried up. At comparable golf courses, Fowler has played well. Danny McCarthy is allegedly the best putter on the tour and has a number of top 25 finishes. Bradley is a chalky play but this type of course suits him well and he should out score his Draft Kings position.

(57:45) More US Open DFS Picks

Adam Hadwin is short out of the tee box but he plays around the green very well and can make up for it. Theegala is inconsistent out of the tee box but he played well at Augusta which is a comparable course. Bennett has showed to have some “onions” which is enough to give him a shot. Last week he also finished top 20 but he has trouble around the green and sometimes out of the tee box. Mickelson has nothing to lose and is turning 53 on Friday. In addition, he has very low ownership and knows the course quite well.
