MLB Daily Fantasy Lineup for Friday – April 7

P – Brandon Woodruff – MIL – $10,000

I’m not always one for going out there and dumping salary on the biggest pitcher in the slate, but you may as well when he’s that much better than the next one. Woodruff went out there and looked spectacular in his first outing with three hits and eight strikeouts. The Cardinals are a little stiffer of a test than the Cubs were, but not so much so that I don’t expect him to put up a huge spot.

P – MacKenzie Gore – WAS – $6,500

After the first two series, Gore was the only starting pitcher to keep the potent Braves offense in check. Not only did he hold them to just one run, but he also picked up six strikeouts in the process. Put him up against a much worse offense in Colorado, and this could be an even bigger night for him.

C – Alejandro Kirk – TOR – $3,700

We’ve yet to see a game that Kirk has played this year in which he hasn’t had a hit. He’s only hitting .250 but will be coming off a day off, which tends to hold the big backstop.

1B – Christian Walker – ARI – $3,800

Why get all in on a power hitter who has to face off with Clayton Kershaw? How about because he’s 10-for-30 career off of the Cy Young winner, with half of those hits being dingers. That trend continued into their first meeting this year, where Walker took Kershaw long in a 10-1 loss.

2B – Ozzie Albies – ATL – $4,600

Albies, like Kirk, is another player who had not had a game without a hit (going into Thursday’s action). He’s not putting up gaudy numbers at all, but he’s giving a base level of performance that will make you feel comfy on Friday. He’s also homered before (in just three at-bats) against Padres starter Nick Martinez.

3B – Brendan Donovan – STL – $4,300

I don’t always like playing hitters against my starting pitchers – particularly when that starter is the more expensive of the options. However, Donovan has been hot this season. He’s reached base in every game so far this season and has had a bit of success in a small sample size against Woodruff.

SS – Orlando Arcia – ATL – $2,800

How often will you find a guy at under 3k who has homered in two of his last three games? Do I need to say anything more than that?

OF – Shohei Ohtani – LAA – $6,100

75% of the hits that Ohtani has in his career off of Chris Bassitt are for extra bases. So while his power hasn’t quite reached where I’m sure it’ll end, this seems like as good of any matchup to get that back going.

OF – Joey Meneses – WAS – $4,500

Speaking of power hitters that I expect to get going, Joey Meneses is still looking for his second extra-base hit of the season. Maybe that doesn’t instill confidence in you at this price point, but he does seem to be taking better hacks as of late. He’s also striking out a bit less. Get him in that thin Rocky Mountain air, and I think he lifts one out of there.

OF – Brian Anderson – MIL – $3,200

Just like Arcia, I’ll take the hot hand in Anderson, who is averaging 15.3 fantasy points a game this year. A lot of that is because he has three homers in his last three games. Maybe he doesn’t continue that run, but at just 3.2k, I’m willing to find out.
