Sweet Sixteen Picks Friday 3-24-23
The guys (@GamblingPodcast) give out their Sweet Sixteen picks for Friday 3-24-23. The college basketball predictions podcast hits on all the Sweet Sixteen games for Friday with Colby Dant (@TheColbyD) from The College Basketball Experience. Plus the guys hit on some of their favorite March Madness futures.
The games discussed in this episode will be played on Friday, March 24th. If your bracket has made it with good standing this far hopefully the Sweet Sixteen will not ruin it. With a couple days to think and reassess, it could be a good time to make more bets about who will make the Final Four. UCLA was originally 12-1 to make it and are now 7-1, a price that is still good. Miami at 18-1 is also a solid price for a team that certainly can get hot and has good tournament experience. Arkansas at 14-1 is also one to consider, especially if you like them to win their Sweet 16 game.
(12:57) Alabama (-7.5) vs San Diego State
There are seemingly two versions of this game where Alabama dominate San Diego State or one where San Diego State makes Alabama play their style of ball and wins the game. The biggest issue is San Diego State’s weak offense having to go against an impressive Alabama defense. State also has a good defense and has solid tournament experience, which could be a question for Alabama if they have that kind of composure.
(20:36) Houston (-7) vs Miami
Houston will have the stronger crowd in this one which combined with their defense could give them the edge over Miami. In addition, Miami is on the fraud list due to their poor defense. Although, Miami can matchup well size wise with Houston and can possibly bring enough offense to cover, or possibly win.
(28:37) Creighton (-10) vs Princeton
These two teams are the lowest seeds to play in the day, but it is no accident. Princeton has played very solid within their famous Princeton offense. Creighton has also looked very good and wield the defensive player of the year in their conference while also touting a strong offense. Princeton is in their first Sweet 16 since 1966, they could have very well celebrated their Super Bowl already.
Nonetheless, Princeton beat very solid teams to get to this point and flat out beat them, they didn’t just get lucky. They also rebound the ball well which Creighton does not do well on the offensive boards, if they can hold this game to one shot possessions for Creighton, they can dictate the outcome.
(35:35) Texas (-4) vs Xavier
Texas outmatches Xavier in each spot and plays a physical brand of ball. Although Xavier shoots the three ball well and could get hot and cover at the very least.
