Best Ball Draft 2.0

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) are joined by Andrew Raub (@ARaub23) from The SGPN Fantasy Football Podcast for their second NFL fantasy football best ball draft.

Some might say it is early, but that’s what makes it fun. Rumors of who will be drafted by who affect drafting as well as potential trades, such as Justin Fields finding a new home. Daniel Jones’ fate is also up in the air, especially for all the money he is rumored to be wanting.

There is an argument whether or not Justin Jefferson is the consensus first overall pick. In recent years, wide receivers have proven to be more and more valuable which could explain why Jefferson jumps off the board early. If this stays true though, this means running backs with good value will be available later in the second and early third round.

Breece Hall proved to be an absolutely dog while he was healthy, but his injury makes it confusing and hard to take him at the high ADP that he has been going. Another running back with a question mark is Travis Etienne as there is a chance the Jaguars take a more bruising running back to complement Etienne. Aaron Jones slid to the sixth round in this draft, showing people are overlooking him even though he could potentially be in a better situation with Rodgers gone. Jamaal Williams is another guy with a surprisingly low ADP despite their production last year, but touchdown regression could be the answer here.

Taking rookies is exciting and part of why you do best ball drafts so early, but you can’t skip over clear proven value to do this. With a guy like Mike Evans on the board, you can’t be looking at rookies no matter how good they might be. Capitalizing on draft members who are reaching on rookies could be a very good strategy to use in late rounds, but there is opportunity cost as always.

Skyy Moore is going late in drafts despite carving out a solid role in the explosive Chiefs’ offense. At this late, taking Moore is definitely worth it for what he might do, especially if the Chiefs do not take any receivers in the draft. Pierre Strong is another guy you can take very late who can pop off if Damien Harris does not come back to New England.
