NBA All Star Game Predictions

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) give out their favorite NBA All Star Game picks in this NBA All Star Game predictions podcast w/ Terrell Furman (@ReallyRell__) from The NBA Gambling Podcast.

Some might say (like Terrell) that the guys waited a little too long to discuss the NBA after the Super Bowl on Sunday.

NBA Rising Stars Challenge:

This features teams of rookies and sophomores, with it being a mini tournament this year. Four teams are in this tournament, coached by Joakim Noah, Jason Terry, Deron Williams, and Pau Gasol. The game also features professionals in other leagues such as the G-League and foreign leagues as well. Two major stars in this game are not even in the NBA yet in Scoot Henderson and Victor Wembanyama. Team Joakim Noah comes in at +310 to win the tournament and is a defensive centered team, which makes sense with how Noah played in the NBA. The first round of the tournament ends when one team gets to 40 points, so defense is ultra-important. Competitiveness will be high as the G-League players get a chance to go against NBA talent.

NBA Skills Challenge:

The challenge features the following, Team Jazz -120, Team Rookies +130, Team Giannis +475, Team Jazz. Only the Giannis brothers have done this before and getting them at plus money seems just a little too sweet. The best person doesn’t always win these challenges, it’s just who wants it the most.

NBA 3-point Contest:

A true test of shooting, one like no other, the 3-point contest. The stars show out for this challenges with big names like Damian Lillard and Julius Randle. Buddy Hield won in 2020 and KAT won last year. A particularly popular bet is first round under for shots made because people aren’t used to shooting from off a rack. Another good bet is under 3.5 on people’s money rack. A contrarian play is taking Julius Randle, who just slipped into the contest to replace Anfernee Simons. Also, Lauri Markkanen on the home court advantage is also a good bet. Also consider taking guys just to make the final round which could be a little safer.

Slam Dunk Contest:

The show stopping event that has lagged in the past decade at times features, Mac McClung +150, Jericho Sims +280, Kenyon Martin Jr. +290, Trey Murphy III +380. Trying to get players to care about doing this event is the only hope for the NBA, as viewership is very down. Mac McClung is the star of the event despite being in the G-League with his high-flying, white boy dunking. Trey Murphy at this price could be interesting, especially when Mac McClung is likely to be very overhyped.

NBA All-Star Game Best Bets:

The league is making some new changes with the drafting of the game as it is now 90 minutes before tip-off and the reserves will be drafted first. You can bet on who will be picked first with Luka being very likely since Lebron is given first pick for having the most fan votes. Lebron loves to feed into the dramatics though, and could very well take Kyrie Irving to feed into recent media nonsense. Nonetheless, Team Lebron is 5-0 the past 5 years, so there’s no reason to try and rewrite history taking Team Giannis. As for MVP, Donovan Mitchell looks like a good play as he returns to Utah and has the playstyle to take over an All-Star Game. In addition, Lauri in front of the home crowd is a good play as well.
