Daytona 500 Predictions
The guys (@GamblingPodcast) are joined by the NASCAR Gambling Podcast (@NascarGambling) to give out their favorite Daytona 500 predictions. They break down some NASCAR gambling strategies and talk favorites and longshots for the Daytona 500 this Sunday.
The Daytona 500, a true test of speed and periodically turning left. Racing is one of the fastest growing sports in terms of gambling, finally catching up with some of the popularity it has had for a while. Cody (@Husker_Zeeb) and Rod (@RJVillaGomez) join the show to discuss the Daytona 500, happening this Sunday, and how to best bet on the event. Creativity in your betting is much more possible than you would think.
A true appeal of NASCAR gambling is that it combines golf and boxing betting. There is a big field of people who can win in golf, and truly anyone can win it like in boxing. The difference is no one’s club breaks or catches on fire during the match, and most often than not, if someone is winning the fight round after round they don’t just suddenly get lapped at the last second. Anything can happen, which makes taking the longshots exciting.
Track performance and track history is a major factor when betting in racing. Guys who have performed well at a specific track will most likely do well when on that track again. Other things to consider are crew speed, recent finishes, among others. Avoiding the chaos and being there at the end is huge for the Daytona 500 as things can get reckless – literally. Due to this, the best thing to take are the longshots to win. Yes, because of the payout, but also because there is so much variance in the race.
Qualifying is very important for betting on racing, especially if you are able to select well before the qualifiers happen. A lot of times, longshots will jump in odds quickly if they qualify well, but since it is just raw speed, the more established squads tend to control the qualifying show.
Jimmy Johnson is arguably the greatest racer in history, and he is coming out of a retirement for this race. If you have never heard of a Hollywood story, this would be it with Jimmy Johnson competing this Sunday as a 50-1 outright winner. Last year Corey Lajoie was leading two laps to go last year and could possibly figure it out this year. With 100-1, it doesn’t hurt to throw some money at a guy like this who was so close to winning.
All in all, if you know absolutely nothing about NASCAR, DFS is the way to bet. According to Cody, you can pick blindly and just win money. Doesn’t get much better than that.
