College Basketball Picks 2-14-23
The guys (@GamblingPodcast) are back giving out their best college basketball predictions in this college basketball picks 2-14-23 podcast.
With football over, the focus is now on college basketball. The past few weeks the guys have been hot with picks, and now that they can focus on college basketball things can get scary. This Valentine’s Day has some good games on the slate with conference implications. The lines discussed in this show will be projected lines.
Creighton heads to Providence where the Friars are -1 at home. Creighton is no push over though and is playing good ball. If Providence can knock Creighton out of 1st though in the Big East, they can claim the top spot with a potentially easy schedule ahead. Ed Cooley has the Friars looking really good especially at home, and Creighton has some holes, but if they’re hot they can pull off this upset.
Penn State battles against Illinois where Illinois is -1. In terms of just who is the better team, it is Illinois easily. However, Penn State won the last matchup by 15. Even with this strong win last time, Penn State is dead last in offensive rebounding in the country and if their threes don’t fall, it’s trouble.
Auburn is -6 at home against Missouri. Mizzou just got a massive win against Tennessee and can easily let down in this matchup against Auburn. Auburn plays clean ball as they have older guards handling the ball and making decisions. Although, Missouri also has a very old rotation with just one person younger than a junior.
NC State visits Syracuse at 4 pm on the west coast as a -2 favorite. Jim Boeheim could reportedly be retiring this year, and this could affect their close to the season, for the better or for the worse. NC State just had a road game on Saturday and are back on the road again.
Villanova hosts Butler as a -6.5 favorite. Butler is coming off a nice win and looks strong after an injury riddled start to the season. Still though, Villanova plays so clean and can easily withstand a little hot streak from Butler.
Air Force is a +10 underdog as they travel to Utah State. Utah just lost two straight while Air Force is coming off a big win over New Mexico. For an offense like Air Force’s which can really get going, 10 points just might be too many points. Although, Utah State gets rocking and fans could easily get into the heads of opposing players, which could be bad for Air Force who could be hung over from their big win.
Pittsburgh hosts Boston College in a widespread for an ACC matchup which sits at -12 for the home team. Pitt is in first in the ACC and would like to defend this and beat Boston College by 20 in the last matchup. With a team that just can’t figure it out, Pitt looks good here.
Oklahoma is -1 against visitor Kansas State. This game can theoretically go either way, but Kansas State is 17-8 against the spread. Oklahoma has looked good but they do turn the ball over a lot, and Kansas State is very good at forcing turnovers. Although, Oklahoma is fighting for a chance to be in the tournament while Kansas State is all but locked in.
Don’t get confused, but now we have Kansas versus Oklahoma State. Kansas is -2.5 but this truly can go either way as well. Recency bias could be high with this line.
Wisconsin, an abysmal 2-9 against the spread at home hosts Michigan. But, Michigan has poor guard play that has the chance to allow Wisconsin to improve this against the spread record with a win of more than 1.
Wyoming visits New Mexico where New Mexico is -13. New Mexico just dropped a bad loss to Air Force but was without one of their better players, Jalen House. Wyoming’s injury report looks terrible which is even worse for an already bad team.
San Jose State visits UNLV where the Red Raiders are -5.5. San Jose is solid on the road against the spread with a record of 6-4 and UNLV is always shaky to take as a home favorite even if they are scrappy. When you think, UNLV is going to win, that’s when they tend to lose.
