While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Road to UFC Macau
Road to UFC Strawweight Fight: Bo Meng vs Arisa Matsuda
Card Start Time: Friday (5/29), 6:00am EST (UFC Fight Pass)
The fifth season of Road to UFC gets started this Thursday and Friday with the quarterfinals for four different weight classes. One of the most intriguing of those is the women’s strawweight, where Asia has a grip of prospects ready to make the plunge into the big show. One of those is an experienced fighter, who I feel has a great chance of taking home this bracket.
Bo Meng spent a chunk of time tearing up ONE FC. She went 6-4 in the promotion and fought some of their biggest names. What sticks out about her time there and the rest of her 30 fights is the power. She hits extremely hard for someone of her size. She also is very strong and uses that strength to keep the fight on the feet.
Standing across from her is Arisa Matsuda. Although Matsuda has some solid Brazilian jiu jistu skills that could catch Meng, she sometimes has trouble getting the fight to the mat. He shots tend to come in a touch high and she has finished a number of them due to the level of competition.
Look for Bo Meng to keep this fight standing and put a hurting on Matsuda.
