MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Karate Combat 53
Karate Combat Heavyweight Fight: Jayden Eynaud vs Julius Anglickas
Card Start Time: Friday (2/28), 8:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
Karate Combat isn’t exactly MMA, but it draws plenty of MMA fighters who have left the sport. Also, the ruleset is similar enough to MMA, while removing the grappling. That’s a fact that should make us really high on Julius Anglickas. His MMA career was a solid one with the exception of fights he was ripped to the ground in.
Now he’ll get an opponent who seems tailor made for him. Firstly, he’s taking the fight on short notice. Secondly, he is a fighter who largely gets backed up to the fence and tries to fight his way out with fancy shots – something that has earned him some highlights in the past.
Anglickas has never once been knocked out and I don’t expect it to start here. Between that, his forward pressure, and no longer worrying about being taken down – I love his chances and the line in this one.
