After witnessing another Dan Miragliotta blunder in the Meta Apex on Saturday, we’ll head back to the scene of the crime for another fight night card. With a missing main event, we’re getting a last-second booking of heavyweight to dazzle up top. Johnny Walker steps in off of his recent win to face Waldo Cortes-Acosta. There are tons of bangers on this card and it’s sure to have the crowd on its feet.
In today’s column, we’re looking for the best play on the entire slate of prelim fights for you to exploit. Come check out our best bet for these UFC Vegas 124 prelims.

Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 124
UFC Welterweight Fight: Jonny Parsons vs Jose Souza
Start Time: Saturday (11/7) 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
Buried on the prelims are a pair of welterweights with very different trajectories. Jose Souza picked up a win during a short notice fight back in late May and is being turned around for a fight in the Octagon just a handful of months later. Standing across from him will be Jonny Parsons, who is also 1-0 in the UFC. However, that win came all the way back in 2023.
Because of that layoff, Parsons is obviously an underdog. However, I think that discounts the skills that the “Sluggernaut” brings to the table. He is a talented muay thai striker who has been spending time at Bang Tao Muay Thai since his last fight. He is quick and packs a tremendous punch.
This is a great matchup for him for two reasons. Firstly, Souza has no interest in grappling. He has no takedown attempts in his UFC and Contender Series bouts and has never submitted any of his opponents – even on the regional scene. Additionally, he was chin checked by Yusaku Kinoshita and knocked out. The fight aged terribly as Kinoshita went on to get knocked out in the first round of each of his subsequent bouts.
Look for Parsons to make this nasty early and find a home for that big shot.
