Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Jets +10
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Jets +10
The first question on air was simple: where is this coming from? The guys did not see much from this Chiefs team to justify a spread this big. Their explanation for the number is the Jets’ recent form. New York lost back-to-back home games to the Raiders and the Dolphins, two teams the guys rate near the bottom of the league. That is why it is a 10, they said, and they agree it is too high.
They also pointed to the Chiefs laying a big number, noting Kansas City is 7-18 against the spread as a favorite of more than three. The offense has not been explosive, and the guys said Mahomes has lost some of the superpower he used to have. On the other side, they like the Jets’ passing game, with a rookie receiver who has looked good and tight ends who could have big days.
The case for Kansas City is Kenneth Walker. The guys can see him running for big yardage and a couple of scores against a Jets defense the guys said you can run on, and a 24 to 10 type game is how a cover looks. Geno Smith throwing a pick is in the cards too. They still landed on the points, because at 10 the garbage time should be there for the Jets.
