This is the game the guys split on. Kent State visits Sacramento State on Friday, October 30 at 7:30 PM PT / 10:30 PM ET in Sacramento, CA, and the number the guys played was 10. Sean and Colby took Sacramento State and the points, and Ryan stayed with Kent State, in a debate on the College Football Picks Week 9 episode about whether a cross-country trip beats a bad Sacramento State record.
Kent State vs Sacramento State Odds
Kent State was a 9.5-point favorite over Sacramento State with a total of 46.5 when the guys taped on October 27. Ryan read Kent State at -385 on the money line on air. The guys picked it at 10.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Kent State -10
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Sacramento State +10
- Colby Dant (@thecolbyd): Sacramento State +10
Sean started the argument with the travel. Kent State is an East Coast team flying all the way out for a kickoff on West Coast time, and he asked why he would not be on Sacramento State, besides the fact that they are bad, which he admitted is a huge red flag. Colby agreed and added numbers. Kent State is averaging 15 points a game, the second-worst offense in the country at 137th, and Sacramento State sits at a nice 132nd.
Colby kept going. Sacramento State has yet to beat an FBS team and is 1-3, but the defenses are close, with Sacramento State 84th and Kent State 83rd, and he thinks the mileage is the key. Going across three time zones has effects, he said, and he pointed out Kent State just won the Battle of the Wagon Wheel against Akron and partied afterward. His position was that Sacramento State wins outright, so he was also on the money line. Sean said Kent State’s offense is not good enough to lay 10 on the West Coast.
Ryan was the lone voice on the other side. The way he sees it, Sacramento State has been getting beat to the number by more than 10 points a game, and has two covers this year. He noted one of the covers was a 52-0 win over Mississippi Valley State, which is not an FBS team. Colby countered by asking who Sacramento State has played. North Dakota State, he said, is a legit top-30 or top-40 team. Sean said he was surprised Ryan was fading Sacramento State, and Ryan told the other two he would be happy for them if it hit.
