College Football Pick Of The Day (October 2nd): NCAA Week 5 Spread Pick
For today’s Week 5 college football pick of the day, I’m looking at the game between Old Dominion and Georgia State. Georgia State enters Saturday’s Sun Belt clash as a 2.5-point favorite. The Panthers (3-1) have generated 468 yards and 38.8 points per game, ranking inside the top 30 nationally in both categories.
Meanwhile, the Monarchs (1-3) sit near the bottom of the FBS at 287.5 yards and 22.3 points. That efficiency gap is even clearer on a per-play basis. Georgia State averages roughly 6.6 yards per snap against Old Dominion’s 4.8.
The ground game is where there’s the biggest mismatch. Georgia State is a running football team, averaging 215 yards per game. Old Dominion is at 116 per game. Old Dominion has also allowed 18 sacks, the highest in the country.
Georgia State is a perfect 4-0 against the spread, and I don’t think that changes this weekend. They are undefeated at home and will be able to cover this short number.
