College Football Pick Of The Day (September 30th): NCAA Week 5 Spread Pick
For today’s Week 5 college football pick of the day, I’m looking at UCF against the 20th-ranked Houston Cougars. The Cougars are a 12.5-point home favorite in a game between two 3-1 teams. That feels like a lot of juice for a Houston club that is still 0-1 in the Big 12 after a 28-26 loss at Texas Tech.
UCF is 3-1 and playing with some real momentum. The Knights just beat TCU 21-13 as a home underdog. They forced four turnovers and got a go-ahead touchdown from Keyone Jenkins. Their defense is playing lights out, allowing 12 points on the road to Pitt and 13 points at home to TCU. This defense can keep a game within two scores even if their passing game isn’t very flashy.
Of course, Houston is a different story than Pitt and TCU. Connor Weigman and the offense can really cook. They dropped 42 points on Georgia Southern, and we all know home field at TDECU matters. However, that was Georgia Southern.
This UCF team feels like they’re playing with house money, and that’s a dangerous thing for Houston. I like UCF +12.5, and I’m even sprinkling a little bit on the Moneyline at +350. This defense can be a game-changer. I think they’ll slow Houston enough to cover, but they may slow them so much they win the game.
