Colby Dant was on Hawaii from the jump, calling a trip to Hawaii a hard ticket and leaning on the Rainbow Warriors laying the short number. He also dug up a run of history connecting these two programs, from shared coaches to the Dick Tomey Legacy Trophy the game is actually played for, before locking in Hawaii -2.5.
Sean Green raised the scheduling wrinkle himself: Hawaii is coming off a bad loss at Wyoming and now has to make the trip home. He didn’t think it swung the game, though, pointing out it’s a long trip for San Jose State too, even if San Jose State beat Hawaii badly last year, and leaning instead on Hawaii’s 9-2 record in its last 11 games at the Ching Complex.
