Colby started with the quarterback, who he called the best player in the conference. He turned down a bunch of Power Five offers to stay at Delaware, then got hurt last week and is questionable for this one. Colby’s read is that the number would be in double digits if he were out, so 7.5 says he plays. The backup looked awful in his place last week, 9-for-28 for 97 yards by Colby’s count, and with the starter back Colby thinks 7.5 is too many points.
The matchup helped the case too. Delaware’s run defense isn’t bad, and if it can force Liberty to throw more and lean off the ground game, 7.5 is a lot for Liberty to lay. Liberty’s head coach also already got his revenge game against his old team, which left the guys pegging this as a letdown spot heading into a Friday night on the road.
One of the guys floated a look-ahead angle with Sam Houston coming up next for Liberty, but the group talked itself out of that one fast. The quarterback read and the letdown spot were enough on their own to send everybody to the same side.
