After a few domestic shows, the UFC makes it international. They head overseas to the United Arab Emirates for a fight between former champion Magomed Ankalaev and late replacement, Bogdan Guskov. Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Abu Dhabi
UFC Light Heavyweight Fight: Dustin Jacoby vs Muhammad Said
Start Time: Saturday (7/25) 9:00am EST (Paramount+)
On the prelims, we have a slew of freshly signed fighters out of the Middle East and Russia. One of those fighters gets the assignment in this prelim. Muhammad Said was signed from UAE Warriors and was instantly inserted into a fight with divisional stalwart Dustin Jacoby. With the level of hype that he carries into the fight, the line has stayed relatively close – which I believe is a mistake.
Jacoby has always been a phenomenal kickboxer. He previously fought under the Glory banner and since returning to the UFC has racked up seven knockout victories. That includes each of his last three – all with punches on the feet. He’s begun to pair that with solid takedown defense and cardio that would put most light heavyweights in trouble.
The fresh face on the other side might leave some with a question mark, but it’s pretty easy to get your eyes on prior fights from Said. Despite being from a part of the world that prioritizes grappling, he really prefers to ply his trade on the feet. Unlike Jacoby, he’s much more of a slow plodding striker who uses big movements that often tire him out. This should be a perfect spot for Jacoby to put a veteran lesson on the undefeated fighter.
