‘Tis the season to learn that the Tarleton State Texans and the California Baptist Lancers are names of not just colleges but college basketball teams. Who knew?! Both teams got byes into the quarters on the strength of their #3 (CBU) and #6 (Tarleton State) rankings in the WAC.
And I’m going with the favorite – the Lancers. I could simply chalk it up as “they are the better team”, but I have a word quota to hit, so I’ll elaborate. The advanced stat rankings like California Baptist way more than Tarleton State, ranking them 160th to Tarleton State’s 298th. The Lancers have also won three straight games, including beating the Texans by 20 during that run.
My number crunching has this game lined up as California Baptist -10.5, so the Lancers on the spread is my best bet for tomorrow.
