Best Bet For Saturday (August 17th): MMA Predictions

UFC 305: Dricus Du Plessis vs Israel Adesanya

Start Time – 10:00 PM EST

In the main event of UFC 305, Israel Adesanya looks to become the first-ever three time champion of the middleweight division. Standing in his way is Dricus Du Plessis, who took the belt off of Sean Strickland in his last fight.

While I recognize that Du Plessis has been dangerous in the past – just ask Robert Whittaker – I just don’t see his skill set posing much of a threat to Adesanya. He clearly has power, but Adesanya has been really hard to hit, let alone put away in his career. Additionally, a motivated Adesanya has typically spelled disaster for his opponents. With all the bad blood surrounding comments about being a “real” African champion, I think we see the best Izzy here and he reclaims his belt.

The money is coming in late on Du Plessis, so the current number makes this even more enticing, which is why it’s my favorite August 17th MMA prediction.
