Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 21
Bryce Harper – Higher than 0.5 Runs
When I dropped this article two days ago, I went with Harper’s “Higher than” on his 0.5 runs. When it’s not broke, we don’t fix it. While he didn’t score last night in game two, he scored four runs in the first three games. The guys behind him are still hitting well – Alec Bohm had a pair of hits last night. I like Bryce’s chance to get back on track on Saturday night.
Corbin Carroll – Lower than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI
Corbin Carroll has been everybody’s darling all season. He was briefly near the top of the board in MVP odds and currently sits around a -8000 favorite to become the Rookie of the Year in the National League. However, this series has not been kind to him.
Carroll is just 1-for-15 in the NLCS thus far. He also isn’t walking much either. Although he got hit by a pitch and reached that way once, he has yet to draw a base on balls. With Zack Wheeler taking the bump, who he is just 1-for-8 career against, I don’t see him getting anywhere close to this projection.
Ketel Marte – Higher than 0.5 Singles
And on the opposite side of the spectrum to Carroll is Marte. Marte entered the season sort of being written off after a tough 2022. While he had a solid season, he wasn’t really the talk of the desert – partially thanks to Carroll.
Then you get to this year’s playoffs, and it’s a whole new ballgame. Marte has hit in all nine games that the Diamondbacks have played this year. He only failed to get a single in two of them (he had a double and a homer in those). In the four games this series, he has eight hits with five singles. This projection is laughably low for the performance that he’s had.
