College Basketball Picks 1-24-23

The guys (@GamblingPodcast) give out their best college basketball predictions in this college basketball picks 1/24/23 podcast. They’re joined by Colby Dant (@TheColbyD) from The College Basketball Experience.

College Basketball had some big games on the 23rd, but January 24th will yield some good matchups as well. Colby joins the show to talk college basketball picks for January 24th and also to try keep up the strong performance of lock bets given out at the end of each college basketball show.

Penn State is slated at +6 on their trip to Rutgers in New Jersey. Rutgers is playing strong ball in the Big 10 but Penn State is 3rd in the country in three-point shooting. Miami is -4.5 at Florida State. State is coming off a big win against Pitt but still struggle to have their fans realize this. Miami could benefit from this week crowd presence and can have their way in FSU’s home.

LSU enters Arkansas as a +13 underdog. This many points on the road just seems like too much, but LSU is 6-13 against the spread and just has looked flat out bad all year. Arkansas should handle this spread. Illinois is -3.5 at home against Ohio State. Ohio just got a huge win over Iowa and Illinois just had a tough loss.

Illinois can easily prove to be more desperate and catch Ohio State riding high. TCU vs Oklahoma has TCU as a -6.5 favorite at home. TCU has some of the best experience in the country on their roster and is a top 15 team in defensive efficiency. Oklahoma can rebound well and plays all around good ball, but TCU could ramp up the pace in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma State takes on Texas as +7.5 dogs. State lost to Texas already this year and only mustered up 46 points. With time to strategize and analyze, State could be in a position to claim revenge. Iowa State is -5 at home against Kansas State. These two teams are some of the hottest in college basketball and are two representatives of a stacked Big 12 conference this year.

Even though Iowa State is a tough place to play, Kansas State is strong at the stripe and on the boards, they have a chance to shock Iowa State in front of a rocking crowd. Clemson battles Georgia Tech as 11-point favorites in their home gym where they have yet to lose this year. They might not have lost yet but they are still capable of not covering.

Drake is -6 against Indiana State. State beat Drake by 2 back in November and could be susceptible to the revenge game. Although Drake has been strong at home this year. Kentucky is -5.5 as they visit Vanderbilt and their whack court. Kentucky’s line continues to jump and is most likely because Vanderbilt just doesn’t have it this year. UNC visits Syracuse in the Carrier Dome and is -4. UNC is beginning to get hot but Syracuse is 13-7 on the year.

While they might be on the road, UNC wins the matchup game against Syracuse. A home dog at the caliber of Syracuse is tough to catch up. Wyoming heads to UNLV as +7.5 dogs. Wyoming has battled injuries all year and has been playing bad defense during all these injuries. UNLV has played solid ball all year, which is enough against this marginal Wyoming team.
