College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 4

I went 1-1 last week on my college football best bets, not a long-term path to profit, but I’m still up for the season. Now that more games have been played, my data-based system will only get more accurate. For my college football predictions and best bets for Week 4, we’re off to Memorial Stadium (home of the champions!) in Bloomington, Indiana, and Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. College Football Predictions & Best Bets for Week 4

Northwestern Wildcats vs #5 Indiana Hoosiers

Start Time: 8:00 PM EST (Friday)

To the home of the champs first, which is the first time you ever could say that about the Indiana Hoosiers’ home stadium. But Indy pulled off the ultimate turnaround under coach Curt Cignetti, going from 2-10, 4-8, and 3-9 seasons before his tenure to 11-2 (and a first-round exit in the College Football Playoff in 2024) and then finally 16-0 and winning it all last year.

And there’s been no championship hangover for the Hoosiers in the early going this season, going 3-0 against overmatched opponents. However, the schedule starts to ramp up in difficulty this week as the Big Ten season kicks off for the champs against the visiting 2-0 Northwestern Wildcats.

Not much is expected from the reigning (prestigious!) GameAbove Sports Bowl champion Wildcats – a five-or-six-win season after going 7-6 last year. However, especially in the early part of the season, I have had lots of success betting on large dogs to cover the spread. My line is Indiana -2, so Northwestern is the play.

#1 Texas Wildcats vs #14 Tennessee Volunteers

Start Time: Noon EST

From the home of the defending champs to this season’s top-ranked team, the 3-0 Texas Longhorns, who’ll start the SEC season on the road against the 3-0, #14-ranked Tennessee Volunteers.

After going 10-3 and winning the Citrus Bowl last season, the Wildcats are looking to get back into the National Championship scene this year, and so far, so good, as they’ve risen in the polls from #5 to #4 to the top spot over the past two weeks. However, as is the case with Indiana, the real schedule starts this week with conference play.

Like the Longhorns, the Volunteers have had a spotless start to the season and have steadily climbed in the polls from #20 to #14. But if they are to continue to impress and hit the Over on their 7.5-win preseason projection, they’re going to have to figure out how to win at home in Neyland Stadium, where they were only 4-3 last year.

However, this is not the week Tennessee will solve that problem against Texas. I’ve once again crunched the numbers, and I’ve come up with the line of Texas -12.5. That would make the Longhorns on the spread my play for this one.
