MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Oktagon 90
Oktagon Welterweight Fight: Niklas Stolze vs Tyrone Pfeifer
Card Start Time: Saturday (6/20), 12:00pm EST (Oktagon TV)
Oktagon always brings the fun matchups and Saturday afternoon is no different. Amongst them is a banger of a welterweight fight between a pair of local fighters looking to put on for the country of Germany.
Niklas Stolze takes his sixth fight in Oktagon since being released from the UFC. In those fights, he’s managed just a 2-3 record – which comes on the heels of an 0-3 record in the UFC. That 2-5 record over his last seven is largely due to his deficiency in wrestling defense. He’s always been a talented and dangerous striker, but the second his opponent brings that kind of fight, he folds.
Enter Tyrone Pfeifer, who can bring exactly that kind of fight. He debuted for Oktagon in March against Marek Bartl – a fighter with far better wrestling skills than Stolze. Still, Pfeifer brought some diligent takedowns and good control to keep Bartl away from his dangerous weapons.
If Pfeifer can do that to Bartl, it should be easy enough to do to Stolze.
