NBA First FG Props – March 9
Chicago Bulls vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 4:00 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California

Neither of these teams are setting the world on fire with the first buckets. The Bulls rank 23rd in the league with a 43.0% success rate. The Clippers are one of the few teams worse. They are 29th in the league with an abysmal 39.3%.
There’s more reasons to like the Bulls here too. They are 5.4% better at winning the tip despite both teams being in the bottom five in the league. Those numbers include Ivica Zubac, who is listed as questionable for the game. The Bulls also have been hot lately. Colby White got them the first score in their win over the Warriors on Thursday.
During their reecnt three game winning streak, they’ve had a couple of first bucket guys. However, one guy who hasn’t shown up in the results spreadsheet, but keeps popping up in the play-by-play is Alex Caruso. He’s taken one of their first three shots in two of the last three games. With longshot odds, perhaps this is the time to cash in.

Brooklyn Nets vs. Charlotte Hornets
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spectrum Center – Charlotte, North Carolina
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Hornets are just a touch worse than the abysmal Clippers on the first bucket. They have just a 40.3% success rate – good for 28th in the league. The Nets are 7.3% better on the year and are hot as of late. The lead for the Nets on the tip is going to be right around the same number. They’re getting the first possession 7.1% more than the Hornets. Those factors should be good enough to ride with the Nets Saturday.
Nic Claxton has been one of the most prolific first bucket scorers on the year, but another Nets has been hot as of late. Dorian Finney-Smith has two of the Nets’ last three first buckets. With a couple of their other starters banged up, we’ll get him on the board here.
