Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – December 22
Pascal Siakam – Lower than 11.0 Rebounds+Assists
Pascal Siakam goes up against his former coach, Nick Nurse, tomorrow in Philadelphia, so you’d think the Sixers will have the inside scoop on how to play him. While Siakam is averaging 11.6 rebounds plus assists this season, he’s only topped the 11 mark twice in his last seven games. And Philly has one of the league’s top defenses and Joel Embiid hoovering up rebounds.
Scottie Barnes – Higher than 21.5 Points
While Philadelphia does have that aformentioned stingy defense, someone on the Raptors has to score tomorrow – Philly still gives up 111 points per game. So I’m counting on breakout star Scottie Barnes to do just that tomorrow for the Raptors. The third-year pro has topped this 21.5-point projection in four straight games and seven of his last nine games. He’s averaging a season-best 24.3 ppg for December.
Joel Embiid – Higher than 35.5 Points
Now for the reigning NBA MVP, Joel Embiid. Yes, 35.5 points is a super high points projection – it’s maybe the highest I’ve seen on Underdog since doing this column. But Joel Embiid cares not for our doubts. He’s scored 42, 40, and 51 points in his last three games, and has topped 35.5 points in four of his last five games and six of his last eight. The Raptors’ average defense won’t be able to stop him – no one can.
