Underdog Fantasy Daily Pick’Em Entry – October 23
Corbin Carroll – Lower than 7.0 Fantasy Points
This has been a particularly bad series for Corbin Carroll. Not once in the five games that they’ve played so far has he cleared this projection. He’s got just two hits in the series and doesn’t seem to be making good contact. If things couldn’t get any worse, insert a pitcher he has a poor history with. In nine career at-bats, he has just one hit (.111 batting average) against Aaron Nola.
Bryce Harper – Higher than 0.5 Batter Walks
The trend for the Diamondbacks pitching around Harper is clear. In five games in this series, he’s walked five times, and just about all of them are with first base open – a situation to avoid him. With how hot he has been at the plate, I don’t feel like now is the time they’ll abandon that plan.
In addition to the Diamondbacks walking him on purpose, he also has a history of walking against Monday’s starter, Merrill Kelly. He’s got nine plate appearances over his career, and two of them have ended in walks. When you combine that with their trend to stay away from him right now, he should get this early.
JT Realmuto – Lower than 7.5 Fantasy Points
Realmuto hit a big dinger in game five, and everybody is back high on him. However, it’s worth noting that he cleared this projection just one other time during this series. He’s also not looked great against Merrill Kelly in his history – just 3-for-11 career with a pair of strikeouts. Hit me with that “Lower than.”
