Utah was the easier side to back in Towson vs Utah, set for Thursday, November 5 at 6:00 PM PT / 9:00 PM ET in Salt Lake City, UT. Utah was a 10.5-point favorite when the guys taped on November 4, and two of the three laid it. Colby took the Tigers and the points, so the pick was not unanimous. The full argument is on the College Basketball Picks episode.
Towson vs Utah Odds
Utah was the favorite at 10.5 points over Towson when the guys taped on November 4. The guys noted that 11 is a key number in college hoops, so 10.5 sat just under it.
Our Picks
- Ryan Kramer (@KramerCentric): Utah -10.5
- Sean Green (@SeanTGreen): Utah -10.5
- Colby Dant (@TheColbyD): Towson +10.5
The guys started with the openers. Utah got a scare from Long Beach State in game one, with Long Beach State almost winning outright. Towson got drilled by Santa Clara. Eleven felt like a big number to lay, but the Utah side liked the half point and compared the spot to BYU, which trailed Ohio State in the first half and got it done after the break.
Colby pushed back. He said Towson was projected in the top four of the CAA and that the Santa Clara game was close at halftime before it got away, by his memory a seven-point Santa Clara lead. He rated Santa Clara better than Utah and saw a clear coaching advantage for Towson. He also noted the program has not had a losing season since COVID. The altitude is scary, he said, but he wanted the 10.5 and the Tigers.
The Utah side had answers. Towson shot 28% from three in that Santa Clara game, and one of the guys pointed out Towson is already out on the West Coast, so travel is not the problem it might be. The guys still said to lay the points. In the end the answer stayed Utah -10.5 from two of the three, with Colby alone on Towson.
