College Football Pick Of The Day (October 24th): NCAA Week 8 Spread Pick

For today’s college football pick of the day in Week 8, I’m looking at Vanderbilt on the road to take on number twelve Kentucky. The Wildcats are 6-1 and host the Commodores at Kroger Field on Saturday night. Kentucky has won five straight, including three on the road, and sits tied for first in the SEC standings.

They’ve averaged 32.7 points behind an efficient offense. Quarterback Kenny Minchey has been an outstanding transfer, completing 68.4% of his passes for 1,552 yards, 13 touchdowns, and just one interception. Their running back CJ Baxter has also run for 484 yards and eight touchdowns.

Vanderbilt is currently 3-4. They started 3-0 in non-conference play before dropping four straight to teams like Georgia, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Arkansas. They’re scoring just 23.6 points per game while allowing 29.7. Quarterback Jared Curtis has thrown for 1,242 yards but has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns.

Kentucky has covered the spread in six of seven games and is 2-0 ATS as double-digit favorites. The Wildcats’ recent close wins over LSU and South Carolina and a road victory at Oklahoma show they can handle pressure. Home-field advantage at Kroger Field will help as well. Kentucky’s balanced attack and superior execution should control the tempo and create separation against a Commodores side that has been outscored and outgained in SEC play.

The Pick: Kentucky -10.5
