MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – October 1

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves

First Pitch – 8:00 pm EST
Truist Park – Atlanta, GA
Broadcast – NBC

The first two games of this series have been money for the YRFI. The Phillies managed to tally a first inning run in Game 1 against Chris Sale, helping that hit. Then in Game 2, both teams got on the board early – providing a no-sweat YRFI. With the offenses jumping out to early scoring in both of those games, there is really no reason to expect anything different in the decisive game.

The big reason why we can continue to expect early offense is the pitching. The Braves have decided to go with opener Ray Kerr for the big game. While he does sport an impressive 1.47 ERA on the year, he’s only thrown 18.1 innings. Additionally, he did give up a run just two appearances ago to a lackluster Astros offense. The Phillies are also sending out a sub-optimal pitcher. Aaron Nola is getting the ball and he’s got hit all over the park in his last few appearances. He’s allowed seven runs over his last 7.0 innings in his last two starts – a 9.00 ERA. With those two guys on the bump, we should see a first inning score again.
