I’ve started the NHL season on the wrong foot, whiffing on my first play (you couldn’t score ONE goal, Carolina?! Some champions you are). But I’m hitting the ice again tomorrow to redeem myself. For my best bet for Thursday (Oct 1st): NHL Predictions, we’re off to the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, for a Metropolitan Division matchup. Let’s get this money!

Philadelphia Flyers vs New Jersey Devils
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
The New Jersey Devils finally get to break the seal on their 2026/27 season tomorrow night at home, hosting hated rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers are currently getting smoked 5-0 by the Pittsburgh Penguins as I type these words on Wednesday night, so this will be the second night of back-to-back for them.
That aspect – the Flyers having to play two hated rivals back-to-back to kick off the season – is the main reason I’m going with the Devils tomorrow night. A rested New Jersey – and more importantly, a healthy team after an injury-plagued 2025/26 (although Jack Hughes tends to miss 20+ games a year, so fingers crossed) and the home-ice advantage should be enough to push the Devils across the finish line tomorrow night.
New Jersey on the moneyline is my best bet for Thursday.
