MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 241
LFA Bantamweight Fight: Vinicius Pires vs Rafael Pereira
Card Start Time: Friday (9/11), 4:00pm EST (VICE TV)
Headlining this LFA 241 card down in Brazil is a pair of Brazilians looking to claim the vacant bantamweight strap. When Artem Belakh was selected for the Ultimate Fighter house, the belt went up for grabs. With these two having the best claims for it, and with LFA heading to Brazil at the perfect moment, it was the fight that needed to happen.
The former champ Pires comes in here as an underdog. However, I’m struggling to come up with a reason why. He looked sensational in his run to the belt back in March of 2025. He won three straight fights inside the distance with a mixture of quick striking and surprisingly suffocating grappling.
Pereira is also worthy of a shot at the belt, but I wonder about whether his defense will hold up. He can be dangerous in his own right, but when rushed, he does seem to show deficiencies. Pires would be the perfect person to pounce on those and take the belt from right underneath his nose.
