MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Paris
UFC Featherweight Fight: Morgan Charriere vs Felipe Lima
Start Time: Saturday (9/5) 12:00pm EST (Paramount+)
Although he’s just 3-3 in his six-fight stint in the UFC, Morgan Charriere has had a lot of success on home soil. In his two fights in Paris, he has picked up two finishes inside of the distance and two performance bonuses as well. That’s not terribly surprising as his style always brings the action. That’s why he’s netted four performance bonuses in his UFC stint.
The most important part of that game is his ability to keep his feet. He’s posted a 83% takedown defense, and has spent less than four minutes in bottom control over his career. That’s going to be vital for him in a bout with Brazilian grappling specialist Felipe Lima.
Lima has really tried to lean on his wrestling since coming to the UFC. However, he’s only hit six of his 22 attempts and it appeared to cost him most of his cardio in his fight with Payton Talbott. If he fails on a few of those early takedowns against Charriere, he’s going to have trouble keeping up on the feet.
