The international flavor of the UFC carries on to this weekend. After a week in Shanghai, the UFC will stop off in Paris for Fight Night: Hooker vs Parnasse. The card is loaded up with some of the very best European talent in the organization and there are plenty of bangers to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Paris
UFC Strawweight Fight: Delphine Benouaich vs Sofia Montenegro
Start Time: Saturday (9/5) 12:00pm EST (Paramount+)
One of the earliest prelims on this card features a pair of fighters very new to the organization. One of these strawweights will be making her UFC debut following a run on The Ultimate Fighter. The other will also be getting their first kick of the can after a loss on Dana White’s Contender Series – a fight that ultimately got her a contract anyways.
Delphine Benouaich is as tough as they come. She went into a semifinals matchup with Tina Black and threw down. She had big moments, but just didn’t have enough to cut off the cage and force more strikes to land.
The good news for her is that she’s fighting someone who is willing to sit and trade. Sofia Montenegro went head-hunting on Contender Series against Jeisla Chaves and got hit plenty for her troubles. She took 50 strikes just in the first round and then spent a huge chunk of the rest of the fight trying (unsuccessfully) to take the range away. This loss didn’t age well as Chaves has looked out of her element in the UFC so far.
Given what we saw from Benouaich on the show and the regional scene, I see her being the much sharper striker. The longer the fight is on the feet, the clearer her path to victory will be.
