After a fairly chalky first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs (six of the eight series victories went to the higher seed), we’re left with the last eight teams fighting for Lord Stanley’s Cup. Carolina Hurricanes vs Washington Capitals
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
One half of the Eastern Conference Semifinals pits the best team in the conference, the Washington Capitals, against the team with one of the best perceived chances at winning the Cup, the Carolina Hurricanes. Yes, despite the home ice and superior record, the Capitals find themselves a dog in the second round.
But Washington is my choice to win Game 1 tomorrow against Carolina. They are a very strong home team, including beating the Hurricanes both times they visited Washington’s Capital One Arena this season, and Carolina is weak on the road. Washington as a dog on the moneyline is the first half of our winning parlay.
I’m pairing that play up with a bet on the total. We’re getting the goal total at 5.5 and we’re taking the over. Washington and Carolina are two of the league’s highest-scoring teams, and they both averaged over three goals a game this season, and went over 5.5 goals in three of their four head-to-head matchups in the regular season.
