The UFC heads back to the Apex for UFC Vegas 104. The headliner will be a rematch between Marvin Vettori and Roman Dolidze. Vettori took their first fight back in May of 2023 – will Dolidze get his revenge? Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 104
UFC Heavyweight Fight: Waldo Cortes-Acosta vs Ryan Spann
Start Time: Saturday 4:00pm EST (ESPN+)
On Saturday night, Ryan Spann becomes the second light heavyweight from Fortis MMA to make the move up to heavyweight. Both he and Kennedy Nzechukwu seem to be making the choice knowing that they’ll have a speed and cardio advantage over a large number of the large heavyweights. It’s worked well for his teammate and I expect it to work for him on Saturday night as well.
Part of the reason I like his chances is that they’ve set him up with a nice matchup. Waldo Cortes-Acosta isn’t much of a wrestler, which should give Spann another avenue if he doesn’t like what he sees on the feet. Additionally, I think he’s going to do well in the striking department thanks to his speed and aggression.
For all of those reasons, plus getting in on him as an underdog, I really like ‘Superman’ in this one.
