It’s time to put my daily NHL and college basketball bets on hold because tomorrow is Saturday, and Saturday = the UFC. And this week, the UFC brings us their pay-per-view of the month, UFC 313. For my best bet for Saturday, March 8th: UFC Predictions, we’re hitting up the main event. Off to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas we go!
Best Bet For Saturday (March 8th): UFC Predictions
UFC 313: Pereira vs Ankalaev
Start Time: 6:30 PM EST (ESPN+)
Our main event tomorrow is for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, with long-time champ Alex Pereira defending his strap against top contender Magomed Ankalaev. And the Russian challenger is considered a serious threat to dethrone the champ.
But I don’t see that happening. Ankalaev is thought of as a wrestler (probably due to where he’s from and his name and his look), but he rarely grapples. He also is prone to not fighting to his strengths and making fights more difficult than they should be.
Plus, Ankalaev has been talking about standing and trading with Pereira, which is going to get him knocked out. I’d take Pereira in a stand-up battle against any other striker in the sport. It all adds up to a very nice moneyline on Pereira to retain his title and perhaps move on up to heavyweight next.
