NBA First Scorer Props – March 7
Phoenix Suns vs. Denver Nuggets
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Ball Arena – Denver, CO

In the ESPN night cap I really like the Suns chances to get on the board first. They have all the advantages when it comes to the early bucket action. They have a 6.4% advantage when it comes to the first bucket and a 8.0% advantage when it comes to scoring first. With tip winners scoring first 65.7% of the time, that’s a good enough reason to back Phoenix. Additionally, the fact that they come in at +105 for Friday’s action is too much to pass up.
Over the last three games, if you look at the first three shots in the Suns shot log, the same two players are all over it. Kevin Druant and Bol Bol have taken 66.7% of those shots. Either of them would be decent options when it comes to this game on Friday. However, one of the two is the odds on favorite. The other is betting off at 7-to-1. We’ll grab the extra odds with all the same volume.
First Scorer Bet for March 7: Bol Bol (+700)
new York Knicks vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST

In the late-late game, I like the Clippers to get on the board first. Despite having a lot of advantages on the major indicators, they are still only posted at -120 to score first. They have a 6.4% lead when it comes to the tip win percentage and an identical lead when it comes to scoring first. Additionally, Zubac’s wins on the tip have gone up substantially since the first half of the year. For all of those reasons, I like the Clippers here.
If we’re going with a player on the Clippers, I’m sticking with the aforementioned Ivica Zubac. He’s had all of the early volume for the Clippers in recent games. Over the last three games, he’s taken the first shot twice. Additionally, if you want to run it back further, he’s taken the Clippers’ first shot in three of the last five. That kind of volume without a completely deflated set of odds is too good to pass up in this one.
