The NHL is eschewing their annual All-Star Game (which is fine because every sport’s all-star game sucks) and instead has organized something called the 4 Nations Face-Off. Running February 12th to the 20th in Montreal’s Bell Center and Boston’s TD Garden, teams of NHL players from Canada, the United States, Finland, and Sweden will play in a round-robin tournament to find out which nation is supreme on the ice. For my best bet for Wednesday, February 12th: 4 Nations Face-Off Predictions, we’re headed north for the first game of the tournament!
Best Bet For Wednesday (February 12th): 4 Nations Face-Off Predictions
Canada vs Sweden
Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
It’s no surprise that Canada is the favorite to win this tournament (tied with the United States at some books), and they kick things off tomorrow night on home ice in Montreal against Sweden. Canada’s offensive power potential is impressive, with Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Mitch Marner, Cole Makar… the list goes on and on.
While it wouldn’t be a total shock if any of these four teams win this tournament, according to the odds Sweden is expected to come in third. And, despite Canada’s weakness between the pipes, I expect the home team to best the Swedes tomorrow night. But the moneyline is too steep, so instead I’m going to count on McDavid and company to run the score up, and I’m taking Canada on the puck line.
Best Bet: Canada -1.5 (+110)
