We’re off to the rink again tomorrow for my best bet, as our long nightmare of no football games continues until Saturday. For my best bet for Thursday, January 16th: NHL Predictions, we’re checking in on a battle between two of North America’s capital cities, going down in the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, Ontario.
Best Bet For Thursday (January 16th): NHL Predictions
Washington Capitals vs Ottawa Senators
Start Time – 7:00 PM EST
The Washington Capitals continue to shock the hockey world, as they are still ranked among the very best teams in the NHL. Washington’s over/under for points heading into the season was 89.5 – they currently have 63 and are on pace for 117. And Alex Ovechkin is only 22 goals behind Wayne Gretzky’s career goal record heading into action tomorrow against the Ottawa Senators.
The Senators, meanwhile, are chugging along at a 90-point pace, right where they were expected to be. And they’ve won two straight games. But I don’t expect them to add to that total tomorrow night. The Capitals are the second-best road team this season, posting a great 14-6-1 record.
Even giving Ottawa a slight home-ice advantage (they are 11-7-1 at the Canadian Tire Center this season), Washington should still be favored by about 0.70 goals tomorrow night. I’ll take the Caps as a slight dog on the road for Thursday’s best bet.
