NBA First Scorer Props – November 26
Chicago Bulls vs. Washington Wizards
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Capital One Arena – Washington, DC
Broadcast – NBA TV
At this stage in the season, the Bulls are an auto-fade in all first bucket props. They are the worst team in the league at converting (only 17.6% of the time) and the worst team in the league on the jump (just 5.9% success rate). Nikola Vucevic doesn’t even look like he’s trying to win jumps, which should make this easy for the Wizards. The Wizards are just a touch below average in both columns – 46.7% in both. However, being close to average is like being the best in the world against the Bulls. Additionally, Alexandre Sarr has seen a spike in his tip results lately, which let’s me know he’s acclimating to that part of the game.
The Wizards sort of spread their first buckets around a bit, which can make them hard to handicap. However, the Bulls defense is not hard to handicap at all. They have given up first buckets in each of the last five games to people with similar profiles. Clint Capela, Evan Mobley, Jalen Duren and Alperen Sengun – all of which are big guys who dominate in the middle. Brandon Clarke bucked that trend a bit last game, but even he plays in a power forward role for Memphis. That middle guy on this squad is the aforementioned Alexandre Sarr. He has two first buckets already on the year and has taken one of their first three shots in two of the last three games.
First Scorer Bet for November 26: Alexandre Sarr (+900)
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Miami Heat
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Kaseya Center – Miami, FL
Broadcast – TNT
The Heat are a solid team on the jump thanks to the hard work of Bam Adebayo. They win 57.1% of all the jumps, which puts them solidly above average. However, they are one of the very worst teams in the league at converting those wins into first scores. They rank 28th in the league in that metric.
That’s going to be a problem against this Milwaukee squad. The Bucks are much better on the tip, winning 12 of the 17 that they’ve seen this year. Additionally, they’re converting at a 64.7% rate, which puts them in the top five teams in the league. With a team in Miami that has trouble scoring first even when they win the tip, the Bucks should easily score first in this one.
We’re going back to the well with a down ballot play in Milwaukee. Last week we loved Taurean Prince and he cashed at +1200. Now, we like him again – not just because he hooked us up last time. We like him again because he’s still getting a ton of early looks. He took all three of the Bucks first three shots last game. Additionally, he’s taken one of their first three shots in all three of their most recent games. Let’s count on lightning striking twice for this one.
First Scorer Bet for November 26: Taurean Prince (+1000)
