Week 11 is here, and things are officially getting real! This past Tuesday was a massive day for the future of our nation. I am talking about the initial CFB Playoff Rankings, of course! There may have been a few shockers up top, but we will see a few of those teams put to the test on Saturday. We have a great slate of action to take a look at below. It is about time we deliver a 2-0 mini sweep for this rendition of the weekly College Football Picks.
Week 11 College Football Picks
Florida (47.5) at Texas -21.5
The narrative around the Longhorns has been up and down over the last few weeks, but they are still firmly in the playoff picture and are laying over three touchdowns this weekend against Florida. Heading into the week, I am seeing narratives around fading the Gators against Texas. They have a massive QB problem, which is never easy to deal with. The Gators really hung around with Georgia last week even though they could not move the ball. At the end of the day, they have an elite defense and will really switch their style of play against Texas. Florida knows that Texas will move the ball and score points. While they are on offense, the Gators will surely keep the ball on the ground and value the clock.
The value of the point increases here as Florida commits to controlling the tempo. With that being said, 21.5 is a lot of points, and I think their defense and tempo will be strong enough to keep them within the number.
The Pick: Florida +21.5
Mississippi State (61.5) at Tennessee -24
Tennessee finds themselves in the middle of the playoff picture as well and is playing their second straight game as a massive favorite. Last week, they won but failed to get the cover against Kentucky. Truly, the high-powered Tennessee offense has been held in check since early on, but they have a great opportunity here. They host Mississippi State, who is the worst team in the SEC. This Bulldogs team let up over 40 points to Kent State of the MAC and offensively challenged Florida. It is a matter of time until Tennessee finds their stride on offense again, and this is a great spot to get right. I am expecting a nice, old-fashioned blowout and will be laying this number with the Vols.
The Pick: Tennessee -24
