My 55 straight days of football best bets hot run continues – as of this writing, I’ve hit four straight plays and five of my last six. Tomorrow is going to be tougher, with only two football games to find a good line from. But I think I’ve got one. We’ve got (on paper) a Conference USA squash match tomorrow going down between the 1-6 Kennesaw State Owls and the 5-2 (3-0 in the conference) Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The Hilltoppers are currently atop the Conference USA standings, while the Owls are ranked 134 out of 134 teams in the nation based on Football Reference’s Simple Rating System.
So Western Kentucky is going to win this game. But can they cover the 24-point spread they’re set at tomorrow? They won their last home game by 27 points, so that’s a positive. Their offense and defense are way better than the Owls’, and Kennesaw State has one of the worst D’s in the country. And, going back to Simple Rating, based on it and the home-field advantage, the Hilltoppers should be expected to win by 31 points.
