Underdog Fantasy MLB Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – September 12
Spencer Steer – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Okay, so the recent trend doesn’t favor Steer clearing this mark. In fact, he hasn’t hit this mark all month. However, I’m calling for a breakout with a familiar pitcher that he likes hitting. He may have faced Sonny Gray just six times in his career, but Steer is 3-for-5 in that span. Additionally, two of those three hits have left the park. If there’s a pitcher to help get him back on track, this is the one.
Romy Gonzalez – Higher than 1.5 Total bases
Another under the radar name to keep an eye on for Thursday is Romy Gonzalez. He has been a little hotter as of late, logging four hits in his last three games. He’ll enjoy seeing Nestor Cortes yet again. In five career at bats, he has four hits. Of those four hits, just one of them has been a single. He should be able to clear this projection with a single swing if the trends hold up.
Kumar Rocker – Higher than 1.5 First Inning Strikeouts
Kumar Rocker has looked like he has had big league stuff since he was pitching in college. A rocky start to his pro career leaves him finally making his debut on Thursday. Lucky for him, it is against the team who ranks dead last in team strikeouts. I think he’s going to come out firing and rack up a few early Ks.
