Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – May 16

Anthony Edwards – Lower than 29.5 Points

All that Michael Jordan talk was surely far too early in regards to Anthony Edwards, as the young superstar has been underwhelming in two of the last three games for the Minnesota Timberwolves. But he’s going up against the defending champions, after all.

I think expecting Edwards to score 30 points in this crucial Game 6 – when the Denver Nuggets will be hellbent on ending the series – is asking too much. Edwards didn’t even top 20 in Games 3 and 5 and hasn’t topped 30 in three of the last four games.

Karl-Anthony Towns – Lower than 30.5 Pts + Rebs + Asts

Karl-Anthony Towns isn’t exactly known as a big-time playoff performer, but he’s having a solid playoffs now that he’s firmly the second banana behind Edwards. But 30.5 points plus rebounds plus assists for tomorrow’s Game 6 is too high a bar for him to clear, I think.

Towns is averaging 30.6 for the playoffs, but he’s been under 30.5 in three of the five games this series against Denver. With the Nuggets rolling, I think Towns will fail to clear this total tomorrow.

Nikola Jokic – Higher than 29.5 Points

The reigning MVP and the world’s best player, Nikola Jokic, is in kill mode. The past three games he’s really stepped it up and put the pressure on the Minnesota Timberwolves, and I think he finishes the job on Thursday night.

Taking a higher on a scoring play for Jokic is a risky move, as he’s not that interested in scoring points. But in the past two games, he’s scored over 30 points and I think he does it again in Game 6 to try to close out this series.
