NBA Picks May 2nd

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Indiana Pacers

Tipoff – 6:30 pm EST
Spread: Pacers -7.5
Total: 215.5

Improbably, the undermanned Milwaukee Bucks blasted the Indiana Pacers out of the water in Game 5, winning by 23 points. That was without stars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. But I think the good times end for them tomorrow.

The Bucks will still be without Antetokounmpo and Lillard for Game 6, plus Patrick Beverley and Khris Middleton are banged up, but expected to play. And Milwaukee has yet to win a game in Indiana in this series. In their three wins this series, Indiana has won by 17, three, and 13 points. I think they cover for us at home on Thursday.

Best Bet: Pacers -7.5 (-115)

New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers

Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Spread: 76ers -3
Total: 199

The most compelling first-round series is definitely this Eastern Conference battle between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. Due to the heroics of Tyrese Maxey in Game 5, the Sixers are still alive to play a Game 6.

But I don’t think they’ll survive for a Game 7. Joel Embiid is running on fumes – injured and ill – and has subsequently shot 7-19 in Game 4 and again in Game 5. And he had 13 turnovers in those games combined. The Sixers can’t keep surviving without a supernova Embiid. Plus, New York has already shown they can win in Philly this series. I’ll take the Knicks plus the points.

Best Bet: Knicks +3 (-101)
