Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 30
Joel Embiid – Higher than 32.5 Points
I usually try to have plenty of ammunition to explain my Underdog Fantasy plays. But taking Joel Embiid higher than 32.5 points in Game 5 is based more on a hunch.
The hunch is Embiid, regardless of what physical condition he’s in, will not go down without a fight on Tuesday in New York. He’s topped this 32.5-point projection in half of the games in this series, including his epic 50-point Game 3. I think he can get us at least 33 in Game 5 as well.
Donovan Mitchell – Lower than 24.5 Points
I don’t expect Donovan Mitchell to bring it like Embiid in Game 5, however. I don’t get this 24.5-point line for Mitchell, so the lower is play on this one.
Mitchell has only scored 25 or more once in this series, and that was in Game 1. He’s only averaging 21.0 ppg over the first four games and has shot worse and worse with each successive game, bottoming out(?) at a 5-14 performance in Game 3.
Tyrese Haliburton – Lower than 34.5 Pts + Rebs + Asts
I’m also taking a lower on a Tyrese Haliburton play for Game 4 on Tuesday. Despite having a good scoring game in Game 3, Haliburton is still not the same player we saw leading up to the All-Star break.
Lower than 34.5 points plus rebounds plus assists is the play to make. Haliburton has only topped this total once in this series – his triple-double performance in Game 4. For the series, he’s averaging 32.1.
