NBA First FG Props – April 29
Boston Celtics vs. Miami Heat
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Kaseya Center – Miami, Florida
Broadcast – TNT
Bam Adebayo and the Heat surprised first bucket bettors by winning the tip for the first time in game 3. With as good a Kristaps Porzingis is on the tip (78.3% success rate), I expected him to win every one in this series. While he did lose one here, the Celtics still managed to score first. That makes it a perfect 3-for-3 in the series on the first score. They were the number one team on the year in first bucket success rate, so I expect that trend to also continue.
Jaylen Brown has had so many chances for a first bucket in this series, and it seems like he’s just missing. In game 3, he took both of the first two Celtics shots without the first bucket being recorded yet. While that didn’t prove fruitful, I do think that is a positive trend for Monday’s action.
First FG Bet for April 29: Jaylen Brown (+425)
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Tipoff – 8:30 pm EST
Smoothie King Center – New Orleans, Louisiana
Broadcast – NBA TV
The Pelicans haven’t had much in the way of traditional success in this series. They find themselves facing an elimination game at home on Monday – just trying to avoid being swept. However, they have had early game success. They’ve won two of the three tipoffs in this series and scored first in two of the three games as well. I’ll ride that trend as they try to stave off an early playoff exit.
Jonas Valanciunas has had a lot of the early work for the Pelicans, but another name popped up as they returned home looking for some momentum. CJ McCollum had two of the first three shot attempts for the Pelicans in the Smoothie King Center. He also took 22 shots, a personal high for the series.
First FG Bet for April 29: CJ McCollum (+750)
