Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – April 20
Donovan Mitchell – Lower than 25.5 Points
Donovan Mitchell is known for his playoff performances, but he hasn’t exactly been lights out over the past two postseasons he’s participated in. He only averaged 23.2 ppg last season for the Cavs in their five playoff games, and in his last season in Utah, he shot horribly in the playoffs.
So I think he’s going to score lower than 25.5 points in Game 1 versus the Orlando Magic on Saturday. The Magic have one of the league’s stoutest defenses, and Mitchell failed to top 25.5 points in his last two meetings against them this season.
Bradley Beal – Higher than 17.5 Points
The old Bradley Beal has finally appeared for the Phoenix Suns this season (‘the old’, not ‘old’). And just in time for the playoffs.
Beal averaged five points less per game this season (18.2) than he did last year in Washington, but he’s been on fire lately. He averaged 21.0 ppg in April down the stretch for Phoenix and has topped this 17.5 point projection in five straight games, including dropping 36 points on first-round opponent Minnesota in the regular season finale.
Nikola Jokic – Higher than 1.5 Steals
You know the league’s best player, Nikola Jokic, is going to bring it every game in the playoffs for the defending champion Denver Nuggets. But I’ve got an under-the-radar part of his game I’m zeroing in on for Game 1.
That would be steals. The big man isn’t known as a master thief, but he’s nabbed at least two steals in five straight games, including four in his last game. Look for him to get his hand on lots of balls tomorrow against the Lakers.
