NBA First FG Props – April 12
Indiana Pacers vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse – Cleveland, Ohio

It’s hard to look out across the NBA with just a couple games left and try to predict how teams will play it. Sure, there’s a few teams with something to play for, but often it may be one or the other. This is a unique one where both teams have something to play for. A win for the Cavaliers may mean a home series to open the playoffs. A loss could mean they’ll be joining the dreaded play-in tournament.
Although the Pacers are also hanging on to a spot in the actual playoffs, they don’t have Jarrett Allen on the tip. Allen has been one of the best in the league this year. He’s won 74.7% of the tips on the year and has the Cavaliers in the top five of first bucket scoring teams.
If we lean to the Cavaliers, you might as well also lean to Jarrett Allen. He has 10 of their 45 first field goals this season (22.2%). He also took two of their first three shots last game and should be due to get on the board.
First FG Bet for April 12: Jarrett Allen (+425)
Phoenix Suns vs. Sacramento Kings
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
Golden 1 Center – Sacramento, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
The Suns and Kings also have something to play for, but are on the other side of the equation. Both of these teams are trying to crawl their way out of the play-in and the loser of this one will most certainly end up in one of those play-in spots.
There is a similar sized mismatch on this game’s tip as well. Jusuf Nurkic is getting 68.5% of all of his tips on the year. Put that next to the ugly 29.1% for Domantas Sabonis this year and we can be sure that first possession is going to the Suns. They aren’t in the top 5 or first buckets like the Cavaliers, but they are in the top 10, and are a bit ahead of the Kings in that stat.
So while riding with the Suns, we’re going to look to their most active first bucket guy as of late. Devin Booker scored first in their last game and that made it three of their last six first scores. He’s been shooting from the outside and that should be what they look for with Sabonis in the middle.
